This month we are happy to shine the spotlight on Master Trainer - Sue White. Sue was first introduced to BUTI six years ago through one of her hip hop instructors. At the time, Sue was a first-time studio owner and her hip hop instructor was bringing in all of the clients. Being a business minded woman, Sue asked the instructor what else she taught and the answer was BUTI. It was love at first spiral! That’s how BUTI began in San Diego. Sue is excited about connecting with more of you in future trainings and is grateful for the forever friendships she has made through BUTI.
How has BUTI been transformational in your life?
Wow, loaded question. How has it not? It has not only brought me back to myself after having kids (as I got lost in the role as a mama for a while), it grew my confidence like never before. BUTI heightened my sense of self and self-worth. It has shown me that there is SO much out there that I still want to do! It has energized my sense of adventure and shed layers of insecurities and inhibitions.
Why//How did the BUTI Community resonate and become so important to you?
The inclusiveness of the community is a driving point. The lifting of each other and not tearing each other down. I did all things competitive growing up. From dance to ski racing to horseback riding, everything I did involved competition. To be able to be a part of something that was the complete opposite was so incredibly needed in my life.
What's your favorite part of the Teacher Trainings?
The genuine connection! At first, it was the movement that drew me in. But in the end, it is the connections I continuously make. I am a far better person/teacher to be learning and connecting from everyone at each of my trainings.
When Did You Know You Wanted to Be a Master Trainer?
During the very first Advanced training that BUTI held, I was surrounded by such incredible humans. Perhaps it was the energy we felt or the knowledge that I was a part of something bigger. I just felt compelled to share it. I don't feel like it was a conscious decision. It was just what I knew I needed to do.
What are your goals for the next 6 months to a year?
Wow, I want to do it all! I want to teach MORE trainings, lead retreats, continue my education as a yoga student ( I’m a perpetual learner) and to be the best possible teacher I can be. In general, spread the love and the movement.
What are the things that HQ or BUTI have you pumped for?
I am insanely pumped to help bring NKD to the next level. In my former life, I specialized in sales and in particular action sports apparel. Being passionate about a brand and its culture are my 2 major motivations. It’s not just about a job, it’s about being immersed in the culture and bringing it to everyone. By bringing NKD to new channels it will also in turn bring more awareness to the BUTI practice. And, as we all know, the World needs more BUTI.
How Does BUTI Play a Part in Your Future and The Direction You’re Heading?
Well, I don’t foresee my BUTI journey ending anytime soon. I’m definitely here for the long haul. The movement speaks to my DNA, our community is unwavering, our connections unbreakable. I will be forever thankful for the forever friendships I have made just by being a part of this practice.
